How I got into concrete
I learned concrete from my dad. From the time I was a kid I was out on his pours, tying steel and later finishing slabs, and the thing he said most was that a slab is only as good as the prep under it. I started Benchmark Lansing Concrete Company here in Lansing in 2023 with that lesson in mind.
We're best known for driveways, patios and other flatwork, the slabs you walk and drive on, and most of our calls come from homeowners. Some come from property owners planning a lot, a wall or a foundation. Either way, I come out to look at the job myself and go over the plan with you before anything gets poured, because a customer who understands the plan makes better choices. You talk to the owner
Your questions come to me, and I'm happy to answer the same one twice. I'll walk you through the plan before the pour and tell you plainly what we won't know until the old concrete is out.
Time on the parts you can't see
We put real work into the base, which is the packed ground the slab sits on, and into curing, the wait that lets concrete harden, because that's what decides how it holds up for years. If a budget has to give somewhere, I'd rather keep the finish simple than skimp on what's underneath.
Estimates you can compare
Our written estimates spell out the base, the mix and the timing, so you can weigh bids on more than the bottom line. Estimates are free, done on site and come with no pressure to book.

Permits and inspections
In Lansing, the city's Building Safety Office issues building permits for construction and remodeling, and a permit has to be in place before that work begins. Before we plan your job, we check which city or township office covers your address, and when a permit is needed we handle the application and the inspections and keep you posted on where things stand.
